CYCLOPS LABSSTANDARDS / ACCESSIBILITYFILE Nº A1

Readable
by everyone.

Cyclops aims to meet WCAG 2.2 at level AA on every page and in the lab. This page says where it stands today, measured by us, and what is still open.

STATUS

Where it
stands.

On 29 October 2026 we reviewed the code and the design tokens against the 55 WCAG 2.2 success criteria at levels A and AA. This is a self-assessment: no independent auditor has tested the product yet, and no assistive-technology pass has been recorded. An independent audit and a published conformance report (VPAT) are planned; until then, treat the figures below as our own reading.

KNOWN GAPS

What is
still open.

  • Scan-red text at body size on raised panels, and two light-theme accent colors, fall short of 4.5:1 contrast.
  • The lab’s “/” and “?” shortcuts are always on; the other single-key shortcuts are opt-in.
  • The motion switch lives on this page; it is not yet in the footer.
  • Help and feedback sit in different places on the site and in the lab.
  • The new multi-pane lab layout has not yet been checked for keyboard and non-drag resizing.
  • A correction request does not yet carry over the address you were looking at.

Each gap is tracked against the release checklist on the craft page (points C20 to C25).

SETTINGS

Stop the
motion.

If your system asks for reduced motion, every animation on the site already stops. This switch does the same for this browser only, whatever the system says.

WHAT WORKS TODAY

Built
in.

  • Keyboard. Every site page and form works by keyboard, with a visible focus ring and a skip link.
  • Graphs. The connection graph has keyboard selection and an equivalent list view.
  • Themes. Dark, light and high-contrast themes; figures use tabular numerals.
  • Definitions. Underlined terms open their glossary definition on hover, focus or tap, and close with Escape.
  • Print. Scans and the Field Guide print as plain documents.
REPORT A BARRIER

Tell
us.

If something on Cyclops is hard or impossible to use with your setup, report it as a bug on bug reports with the page, what you were trying to do, and the browser and assistive technology you use. Barriers are treated as bugs that block a task. For a wrong fact rather than a barrier, use corrections.
